During our trip to the USA, we stayed in the Wingate by Wyndham located in Champaign Illinois.
This is a decent enough hotel for a reasonable price – I paid $99+ taxes for a double queen bed room. The room was clean, and the airconditioning was not as noisy as some others I have stayed in recently. There was an inroom coffee maker that I didn’t use, and a very small bar fridge (no freezer) and a microwave (also didn’t use it). GD and GM’s room had a freezer in the fridge which was iced over (very quickly fixed by a handy screwdriver).
The indoor pool was nice and clear, and warm enough for a nice splash. The shower was HOT! I turned it all the way up to the full hot, and managed to get a scalding shower that left my skin lovely and red (bye bye layers of sunscreen). The water flow was standard, and the soaps were nothing special (I didn’t take them with me.
The wifi was very slow, but I was tired out from travelling so I didn’t bother much. I wouldn’t be trying to stream movies on it, but for checking my email and Eli checking her social media accounts it was fine.
The breakfast was as standard that I am beginning to expect from USA hotels. Two standard size waffle makers etc. However, no yoghurt and the only milk available was in cartons and fat reduced. I tried low fat chocolate milk for the first time and highly do not recommend it. Drinking water here is not all that great, but better than other places (eg. Ramada).
In summary – nothing special, but well priced. My first choice was the Holiday Inn Express Champaign, but it was $45 more expensive + tax.
