This is my second attempt at an Uber-Frugal Month: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5, Day 6, Day 7, Day 8, Day 9
Day 10:
Food is a necessity, but expensive food is not!
I shop at the discount store, Aldi with a $150-$200 shop once a month. The expensive food I buy is nice cheese for Eli (cheese platter etc) and the ‘right’ brand of icecream (the price just went up from $5/l to $6/l!). Both worthy items and something we really enjoy.
I do to an extent buy some food that is more expensive. For example, the convenience of a veggie box delivered, when I could get exactly the veggies I wanted from the store at a cheaper price. Also, I now frequent a bulk shop where you can bring your own jars to fill with rice, flour, nuts, legumes etc. It is more expensive than the equivalent Aldi items but fits with my goals of supporting a local business and reducing plastic waste.
