Getting into tea tasting: review #1

I find myself reaching for a cup of tea more often these days. I’m trying to lose some weight, and so I need to start having less juice and more water-based things. Water doesn’t really appeal to me unless it’s chilled and from the fridge on a hot day. Or I”m just super thirsty and the 30 degree (celcius) car water is all I can find.

Luckily for me, I got some more varieties of tea for Christmas, as well as having some leftover from my birthday. Starting from today, I’m going to try having a cup of tea everyday, preferably two, and work my way through the varities

If I could just break myself into the habit of having black tea, that would be ideal! Because of course, black tea is the kind you can almost always pinch from work functions, hotels etc.

First off is Oxfam: Zhena’s variety sampler stack of 16 teas in tin. If this tea is good, I’d love to have people support Oxfam by buying me tea! It comes in some really pretty containers.

Today I’m testing the Ambrosia Plum White tea. I tend to let my tea steep until it goes cold, so it needs to not go too bitter by doing that. It needs to be drinkable at lukewarm and cold. One tea bag is proving to be good for at least two cups of tea for the first steeping.

The tea is surprisingly drinkable! There is a vague bitter undertaste that has been getting stronger the longer I’ve let it steep. The tea itself is lightly flavoured with hints of sort of fruitness? I’m not a tea connoisseur here…
