Thanks as always to Katy at The Non-Consumer Advocate for the Five Frugal Things post idea.
1. I’d been to Bunnings by myself to get some shelf rails to put up in our Lego room. I got two sizes, because I wasn’t sure which would be right. Turned out that the long ones were too long, so I wanted to take them back. I also had a spare shelf-holder that I had never used, right back from about 5 years ago when I put up bookshelves at my parents’ place. I obviously didn’t have the receipt, but I was still able to get store credit.
2. Something I hadn’t gotten for the shelves were screws to hold it on. I managed to find those by myself, while Eli went looking for the metal plate that goes between tiles and carpet on the floor. It only came in two sizes, and the smaller one was long enough to do both our bathroom and toilet room gaps. We decided that we’d update the colour while we were there, even though we haven’t decided what to do with the kitchen yet
3. Eli and I also picked up a door stopper for our bedroom, but there was only one left in the style we needed. We also spent some time thinking about our odd situation with the two doors in our spare bedroom – they bonk into each other in different spots depending on how open the doors are. Any ideas anyone?
4. The best part of this was that the whole trip only cost us about $2 after my store credit from the items I returned. Plus I got 2% back by using my Orange Everyday card.
5. I didn’t buy a Ferrari.
